This is a 2014 reissue vinyl LP pressing of Stardust by John Coltrane. The American jazz composer and saxophonist originally released his album in July 1963, through Prestige Records. Produced by Bob Weinstock, the album was recorded at the studio of Rudy Van Gelder in Hackensack, New Jersey. The album features Wilbur Harden on flugelhorn, Freddie Hubbard on trumpet, Red Garland on piano, Paul Chambers on bass, Jimmy Cobb on drums, and Arthur Taylor on drums. In 1965, Coltrane was inducted into the Down Beat Jazz Hall of Fame.
John Coltrane is among the most influential and acclaimed figures in the history of jazz and the 20th century. He was awarded a special Pulitzer Prize in 2007 citing his "masterful improvisation, supreme musicianship and iconic centrality to the history of jazz." He was inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame in 2009.
