Originally released in November 1963 and produced by Phil Spector, this album is revered as one of the quintessential classic Christmas albums. Its enduring critical status is immense: Rolling Stone ranked it the Greatest Christmas Album of All Time in 2019, while both Rolling Stone (2003, 2012) and Pitchfork (2017) included it among the greatest albums of all time. The collection was also included in Robert Dimery's 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die, and Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys has cited it as his personal favorite album ever.
