The DiMarzio Crunch Lab 7 humbucker for 7-strings is noteworthy for what it is not. It's not a screamer and it's not about thundering lows. It is in fact all about nuance through high gain. A collaboration with Dream Theater's John Petrucci, the Crunch Lab 7 has a big, tight sound that's neither muddy nor thin, balanced perfectly between a tight bass response and clear singing highs. The DiMarzio Crunch Lab 7 is. It looks identical to DiMarzio's D Sonic 7, but under the hood it is a lot different. It's louder with more open lows and mids, and will play chords with body and presence through a gained-out amp.
