Three Imaginary Boys - The Cure (Vinyl) (AE)

This is a vinyl LP pressing of Three Imaginary Boys by The Cure. Originally released on 8 May 1979 via Fiction Records, the album was assembled largely by the record label, which selected the track listing and cover artwork without Robert Smith’s consent. This experience led Smith to insist on full creative control over all subsequent Cure releases. The album includes a range of early recordings, including material not intended for release such as the “Foxy Lady” soundcheck featuring vocals by Michael Dempsey, which was removed from the American edition. Despite Smith’s dissatisfaction with aspects of the release, Three Imaginary Boys was well received by critics, with Sounds’ Dave McCullough awarding it five stars and praising its variety and inventive approach.
